287. Bednyi, Demian. Collection of 20 books
(1918-34) by satirical Soviet poet Demian Bednyi, pseudonym of Efim Alekseevich
Pridvorov (1883-1945). Pridvorov was a cultured, educated, and well-read poet,
who was active in social causes long before the 1917 Revolution. Thereafter,
he adopted a proletarian identity and began producing highly anti-religious
party propaganda. See Kratkaia Literaturnaia Entsiklopedia, ed. by A.A. Surkov,
vol. 1, pp 492-3. Although the on-line catalogues of the New York Public Library
and the Library of Congress record many titles by Demian Bednyi, none of these
were located there. Detailed list available.
