Description

FREE domestic shipping with direct order. **New York State Council on the Arts, ©1971. 50 individual b/w plates printed one side + 4-page folder containing Introductory statement by Arthur Tress. Contents loose as published in board slipcase. 36.5 x 28 cm. Slipcase somewhat worn and slightly discolored.**INSCRIBED BY ARTIST. Although the plates are unnumbered, and there is no list, the complete set is 50, as described in OCLC (World Catalogue). The subjects tend toward the gritty. Tress writes, “These photographs were taken… to show the large amounts of usable land that still exist in our urban areas,” and some show progress in humanizing the rawest parts of the city, even in 1969 and 1970. Photography with a conscience. This and six other similar portfolios were made to use as exhibits, and complete sets probably are scarce.
