Collection Development

We have been active in collection development for libraries and individuals for over thirty-five years, and we regularly appraise collections and individual fine books. We invite offers of good materials on art.

Ever since 1964, when we first began handling rare and out-of-print books, we have worked closely with libraries and individuals to build general and specialized art collections. Our earliest clients were two then-new campuses of the University of California and the former Pasadena Art Museum. The creation of a fine collection is one of the happiest activities within the realm of the antiquarian bookwoman or bookman.

Between 1990 and 1996, we helped build collections of art books for three new college libraries and a major private library on American art. During 1994 and 1995, in cooperation with a colleague, we supplied undergraduate collections of 100,000 and 80,000 volumes respectively to two new universities, one in a former Iron-Curtain country. Inquiries are welcome.
