Every building on the Sunset Strip

Los Angeles: the artist, 1966 [actually 1970]. Ruscha's 4th book (and best, in my opinion). According to a letter from the artist dated October 8, 1966, 1000 copies of the first edition were printed. This is one of 5000 copies printed in 1970 with one significant difference. The final half-page has been trimmed flush with the rest of the book. In the first edition it shows the front door of the Jaguar building at 9176 W. Sunset Bld. and a view down the adjacent street. White covers with title in silver on front and spine. Housed in white board slipcase covered with reflective Mylar. 54-panel, leporello binding (also called orihon or accordion-style) with continuous photographic illustrations at top and bottom depicting the south and north sides respectively of the Sunset Strip, from Schwabs Pharmacy on the east to the Jaguar agency on the west. 17.9 x 14 cm folded (unfolded, about 7.61 meters or 24.35 feet long). The barest trace of darkening on the spine and an unobtrusive tear at the bottom seam of the back cover of the slipcase; otherwise very fine. The slipcase is unusually bright and fresh.
