Gray Instrumentation I F [Handprinted screen miniature of serigraph by Josef Albers in 4 shades of gray]

Bedford Village, NY: Tyler Graphics, 1974. This superb miniature serigraph was produced by Tyler Graphics as a prospectus for their limited edition prints of "Gray Instrumentation I" (46 copies). The miniature offered here is not a reproduction in the dictionary sense of a "copy," normally in another medium. It is the same print in a small size, produced in the same silkscreen technique as the original and using the same inks. There are two parts. The print has an image size of 5 x 5 in. (12.5 x 12.5 cm); and is printed on white paper 7.7 x 8.15 in (20.3 x 20.3) cm. That is mounted in a gray folder 9 in. square (22.9 cm)' that is attached loosely to a pasteboard backing, and all are contained in a light gray Tyler envelope. A "system of registration makes it possible for the desired interaction of color to occur visually in the same manner as Albers' paintings." As new, except for slight discoloration of the edges of the folder from the pasteboard backing. This is common to all copies I have seen and does not affect the print. For other similar publications, please search for "Tyler Graphics," "Helen Frankenthaler," or "Robert Motherwell" as author and "miniature" as title. **Free domestic shipping with direct order.
