Art attack: the midnight politics of a guerilla artist [heavily "revised" edition]

New York: HarperCollins, 1992. This copy of Conal's ferocious political satire on the Reagan administration and associated characters has been heavily "revised" by an unsympathetic hand. The covers are over-painted with silver, black and green paint. Conal's name is covered and replaced with "Vanitas." I have just noticed that the front is signed "Nemo" in silver on the silver background. An L.A. Times story about Conal is pasted onto a couple of pages and the rear cover. Complete and in good condition, apart from the "revisions." Eight bound-in postcards feature Reagan, disgraced evangelists Jim & Tammy Bakker, Contra/Cocaine (the "Iran-Contra" scandal), President George Bush, the killing of Black people, segregationist Senator Jesse Helms, and Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Laid in is a note reading: "to Jo Anne, for your library!" Signed, possibly, "Jerri," "Jenna," "June," or ? (but not June Wayne). I am fairly certain that "Jo Anne" is the late, talented librarian and writer, Joan Hugo. **Free domestic or international shipping with direct order. Item #06471
