This grouping of drawings by three remarkable artists was curated by Betty Trumbull. Essays by Lucy R. Lippard, Channa Horwitz, and Joyce Cutler Shaw. Agnes Denes' work involves speculation on maps and geometrical figures and their imaginative possibilities. Channa Horwitz used mathematical progressions in time to create wonderful visual effects. Joyce Cutler Shaw, an important environmental artist, also did a great deal of work exploring verbal elements, alphabets, and artists' books. This show featured fields and rivers of handwriting based on repeated personal names: Abigail, Adeline, Agatha, etc. Somewhat browned at the edges; a small, rough patch at the top, front edge.
