Toronto: Editions Carrefour Alyscamps, 2019. 30 numbered copies, signed by the translator. 62 pls. & ills. (43 in color). [93] pp. Dark orange paper covers printed in black; dustjjacket of decorated, handmade paper with applied title label. Staple-bound. About 21.5 x 17 cm. This is the first publication in English of Levis-Mano's texts of 1936 (?) and 1938. He was closely associated with the Surrealists. Under the imprint G.L.M. he published Eluard's and Man Ray's Facile, Breton's Au Lavoir noir, Hans Bellmer's La Poupée, Tristan Tzara's Ramures, Eluard's Les Yeux fertiles (with illustrations by Picasso), Man Ray's Photographie n'est pas l'art, and many other landmarks of Surrealist and modern French literature. He was a skilled typographer and designer. Karl Orend's Afterword gives this nearly forgotten figure his due. Several other publications from the same source are available. The two scans show different copies: 18/30 is the dark brown paper; 30/30 is the dark red and bronze paper. As new. Item #100625
