The enclosed personal letter from the noted performance artist explains that the photographs were taken "with no ulterior motive than to keep souvenirs of the trip.…" Later, "I began to associate some images with the work of 20th century artists.… The photos are innocent of my [original] motives. They are picturesque and touristic. But each 'found' image represents the modus operandi for famous or not-so-famous artists… and my hope is that, if you are familiar with these painters' and sculptors' works, every pic will elicit a chuckle." The artists begin with Seurat, Matisse, Brancusi, Klee, Giacometti, Bonnard, Noguchi—all of them right on. No copies located in OCLC. Very fine. Item #100660
