53 original drawings, linocuts & a copper plate

The artist, undated. Vladimir Kovenatsky was a talented artist who died too young. This collection consists of 9 ink drawings on good paper 42 x 29.8 cm, all initialled on the verso in red crayon; 1 ink wash drawing on lightly textured paper 31.5 x 41.2 cm, unsigned; 9 large linocuts, all but one on soft, heavy wove paper 62.5 x 47 cm, all signed and dated 1962 to 1967; 19 large, titled linocuts, all but one on paper 47 x 31.2 cm, signed and dated 1960-1968; 14 smaller linocuts, all signed and some dated 1958 to 1962, on various papers; some of these last have pinholes in the corners and show other signs of wear. Plus an original copper etching plate 35.8 x 24.7, not for one of the preceding prints. It appears to show a small group of houses with people in a courtyard. They are eating and perhaps courting; some may be entertainers. His themes run the gamut from fantasy and the dream world to satire and simple observation. They could be a whole exhibition for a gallery or museum. The first image shown, "Siren," a woman sitting on a table, is a duplicate and is available separately for $300. Item #100786
