F LUX US. German-style license plate

[Wiesbaden, Germany? Manufacturer unknown, circa 1990?]. A stamped aluminum license plate 11.4 x 47.2 cm (oversquare). Jerome and Diane Rothenberg bought this in Wiesbaden, Germany, around 1990, thinking it a multiple, but I have found no trace of another like it. Wiesbaden. where George Maciunas was living in the early 1960s, was a major Fluxus center. He organized the First Fluxus Festival there in September 1961. The plate appears to have been used. The two holes were drilled, not punched, leaving a burr on the front side, and a third, smaller hole was punched next to the original righthand one, presumably to attach the plate to another surface. Although it probably could not have been used as a license plate, it mibht have been attached to a car or elsewhere as a statement. Item #40601
