International Image Exchange Directory

Vancouver, B.C.: Talonbooks, December 1972. About 94 plates. Approx. 200 pp. Stiff, white paper covers with titling in light blue. 18.5 x 13 cm. Contains requests from artists for images related to specific subjects, with the artists' addresses. Arakawa wants calendars; Joseph Beuys requests "Everything you ever received from Ken Friedman and Fluxus West that was zeroxed"; William Burroughs (yes, that one, at 8 Duke St., St. James, London SW1) is interested in "Ideas for camouflage in 1984"; Alison Knowles needs "Images, ideas and plans for The House of Dust"; and on and on. "These requests first appeared in File Magazine issues 1, 2 and 3, The requests, addresses and index to the decentralized and corres-sponge dance network compiled by Image Bank from January 1970 to November 1972." This is not just another garden-variety directory; I am sorely tempted to keep it. Laid in: a folded sheet of paper marked "Artist's Proof" and bearing some dialogue from Ionesco's The Chairs and a dedication to "the members of the New York Corres-Sponge Dance School of Vancouver." Front cover creased and some soiling and spotting on both covers. **Free domestic shipping with direct order. Item #43951
