System Abstracta. Design: Poul Cadovius

Bergamo [later Milano]: Ponteur, [circa 1960?]. All illustrations, except first four leaves. [64] pp. Decorated card covers bound inside fold with brass brads. 21.2 x 24.4 cm (covers, oversquare). The noted Danish designer Poul Cadovius created his ingenious "system abstracta" for shelving and displays. Its flexibility derived from a connector similar to a child's jack, that interlocked modular steel tubes into assemblies of many different shapes and sizes. The sixty full-page plates show examples of the system in many different settings: erxhibitions, trade shows, shops, offices, and three structures also made the same way. These mid-century pieces now bring four figures in the vintage market. This catalogue, from an Italian distributor, appears to be a very early example of documentation of Cadovius' work. OCLC (the World Catalogue) records no copies, and there are none for sale on line. This one has some small nicks and creases in the front cover and a torn, creased edge at the front of the rear cover. The white front cover is tanned and lightly foxed at the vertical edges. Vanishingly scarce, apparently. **Free domestic or international shipping with direct order. Item #61701
