Fraenkel spent much of the latter 1920s and the 1930s in Paris as part of the group that included Henry Miller, Anais Nin, Walter Lowenfels, and Alfred Perles. He and Miller conducted a long correspondence published as “Hamlet” between 1939 and 1962.
