Among other things, this is an elaborate mail art scheme to send possibly subversive art across national borders unnoticed. "Between 1983 and 1996 Dittborn 119 Airmail Paintings and put them into circulation between points on the earth remote from one another: Rotterdam, Glaslgow, Wellington, Caracas, [etc.]." The grids created when the paintings are folded for maililng are important. The subjects include faces (indigenous peoples, criminals), colonial prints, social commentary, etc. Texts by Guy Brett, Dan Cameron, Sean Cubitt, Roberto Merino, and others.Parallel Spanish & English.
