An important early modernist magazine with contributors such as Giillaume Apollinaire, Louis Aragon, Blaise Cendrars, André Breton, Max Jacob, Francis Picabia, Pierre Reverdy, Philippe Soupault, and Tristan Tzara. Among the visual artists included were Balla, Braque, Léger. Prampolini, Severini, Survage, and Zadkine. Its horizon included Cubism, German Expressionism, Dada, and especially, Futurism. Apollinaire was a frequent and important contributor. No. 26 is devoted to responses to his "Les mamelles de Tirésias." The triple number 37-39 (Jan & Feb 1919) is a memorial issue following his death on 9 November 1919 from the Spanish flu. Introduction by Arlette Albert-Biro; five indexes.
