Russia: the artist, 1936. Signed in pencil at lower right, with a written, one-word caption and 1936 at lower left. Off-white paper with dark sepia ink. Image: 23 x 35 cm; paper: 37.7 x 49 cm. The scan crops the wide margins seriously due to the large size of the image and paper. 1-cm closed tear in upper margin and a few shallow creases at outer segments of margins. A vigorous image from the pre-War Soviet Union. Sarra Shor studied and interacted with many well-known artists in Ukraine and Russia and was active in the Yiddish Theatre in both Kiev and Moscow.
